WALL control fans

The fan and light do not work

1. Inspect the wiring at the ceiling outlet box and the wall switch box to verify that the connections are correct and no wire nuts have fallen out. 2. If your fan uses a receiver, ensure the dipswitch code in the battery compartment of the wall control and on the receiver match. 3. If the wall control uses batteries, ensure they are in good condition and the wall control’s light flashes when buttons are pressed. 4. If the connections and assembly appear okay, contact customer service.

Only the light does not work

1. Verify that the light on the wall control’s light flashes when the light button is pressed. 2. Inspect the wiring at the outlet box and ensure the blue wire from the fan is properly connected to either the blue wire from the receiver (if applicable) or to the second hot wire from the ceiling box (usually red). 3. If you are using the dimming function on the wall control, ensure the bulbs installed are dimmable (CFL bulbs and most LED bulbs are NOT dimmable). 4. Remove the glass and unscrew the light kit. Verify that the plug connecting the light kit to the fan isn’t loose or melted. Inspect the pins for the wires inside the plugs and ensure they are fully inserted. 5. If everything appears to be assembled and connected correctly, contact customer service.

only the fan does not work

1. Verify that the light on the wall control flashes when the fan speed button is pressed. 2. Inspect the wiring at the outlet box and ensure the black wire from the fan is properly connected to black wire from the receiver (if applicable) or to the hot wire from the ceiling box (usually black). 3. Push the blades with your hand and ensure the blades can spin freely. 4. If everything appears to be assembled and connected correctly, contact customer service.

The fan is running slowly

1. Verify that the fan is not connected to a dimmer switch. 2. Turn the fan off and spin it by hand. Verify that there is no resistance or grinding. 3. If everything appears to be assembled and connected correctly, contact customer service.

The fan has no airflow

1. Verify that the fan isn’t in reverse. Most fans will spin counter-clockwise for regular operation and clockwise for reverse (see the owner’s manual). 2. Verify that the fan is running at full speed. 3. Verify that the blades were installed correctly with the correct side facing up (unless the fan uses reversible blades). 4. Verify that the fan is the correct size for the room. Fans that are too small for a room will have limited coverage unless directly underneath. Fans that are too large for a room will produce limited windspeed and won’t feel as noticeable anywhere in the room. 5. Note that fans installed in open spaces, such as covered patios, or fans installed on longer downrods will have reduced air circulation capabilities.

The fan wobbles

1. Verify that the light on the remote flashes when the fan speed button is pressed. 2. Verify that none of the blade arms or blades are bent or warped. 3. Verify that the ceiling outlet box is not loose and that both screws are fully tightened on the hanger bracket. 4. Verify that the groove in the hanger ball is aligned with the tab in the hanger bracket (if applicable). 5. Verify that the collar screws and the cotter and locking pin for the downrod (if applicable) are fully inserted and tightened. 6. If everything appears to be assembled and tightened correctly, contact customer service. A balancing kit may be recommended to help limit wobbling. Note that fans installed on longer downrods or sloped ceilings will be more prone to wobbling.

The fan is noisy

1. Verify that the blades, blade arms, and plates around them are not grinding or making contact. 2. Verify that the the fan is not wobbling. 3. Verify that the groove in the hanger ball is aligned with the tab in the hanger bracket (if applicable). 4. Remove the light kit or switch cap and verify that the capacitor is not burnt or melted. 5. If everything appears to be assembled and connected correctly, contact customer service.
