Fan models serviced by TAL have a limited motor warranty that covers the motor from factory defects. Information regarding your fan’s specific warranty can be found in the owner’s manual. Defective motors must be serviced by TAL’s warranty department. TAL will NOT ship replacement motors without servicing the original motor.

Only the bare motor is covered under the motor warranty. All other parts (such as blades, light kits, and remotes) are covered by a separate warranty for at least 1 year after the date of purchase. See the warranty in your fan’s owner’s manual for the specific amount of years that your motor and other parts are covered. Capacitors, receivers, LED drivers, and other modules are NOT part of the motor warranty.

Defects covered by the warranty

The warranty only covers defects in workmanship or material from the factory and initial shipment. Examples of motor defects include loud noise, severe wobble that wont go away after a break in period or use of a balancing kit, or fan functions not working correctly such as fan speeds and lights.

Voiding the warranty

The warranty will be void on any parts that have been damaged or modified after purchase or delivery. Examples of warranty voiding events include (but are not limited to) installing third party parts like lights, blades, or controllers, disassembling or modifying the motor by altering the wiring or replacing the modules with incompatible parts obtained outside of TAL or Home Depot customer service, or by installing the fan on an unsafe outlet box or electrical supply. Voided parts will not be serviced under any circumstance.

Obtaining Motor warranty service

Motor warranty service is handled directly through TAL customer service. Motors shipped to TAL without proper forms and approval will NOT be serviced. If approved for motor servicing, customer service will provide instructions, a Motor Service Agreement Form, a case number, and a shipping address.
